Tide of Banners
Tide of Banners asks you to think before you tap, which on mobile is almost a novelty. You command armies across a hex map, and victory usually comes down to logistics rather than brute force. Cut an enemy's supply line and watch a strong army wither without firing a shot. It's the sort of thing that makes you feel clever when it works.
The pacing is deliberate. Matches against the AI can stretch across days if you play asynchronously, and the game is built for that. I liked dipping in during breaks, issuing a few orders, and coming back later to see how the front had shifted. The interface is clean enough that you rarely misclick a crucial move.
It's not for everyone. If you want instant action, look elsewhere. But if you enjoy slow, thoughtful strategy, this scratches an itch very few mobile games even try to reach.
What we liked
- Supply lines that actually matter
- Great for asynchronous, slow-burn play
- Clean hex-map interface that avoids misclicks
